THE TABLE:

Black Women in Public Leadership Retreat

REGISTER

Leadership can be rewarding, transformative—and sometimes isolating. The Table was created as an intentional space for Black women in public leadership to gather beyond the titles, the meetings, the microphones, and the demands of public service.

Over one dynamic weekend, women from across South Carolina and beyond will connect, recharge, exchange strategies, have candid conversations, and strengthen relationships with women who understand the unique experience of leading while Black and female.

At The Table, your title may get you into the room—but sisterhood is what happens once you take your seat.

Welcome to the Table

A woman with curly hair, wearing a red top and earrings, smiling and resting her chin on her hand, sitting at a desk with an open notebook.

Throughout my journey in public service, I have had the privilege of serving alongside extraordinary Black women who lead with courage, compassion, and purpose. Yet, as rewarding as leadership can be, we rarely have the opportunity to step away from our titles and simply connect with women who truly understand the journey.

The Table was created as an intentional space for sisterhood, candid conversation, strategy, restoration, and meaningful connection. My hope is that you leave renewed, inspired, and surrounded by a stronger network of women you can call long after the weekend ends.

You have earned your seat. I look forward to welcoming you to The Table.

With purpose and possibility,

Tameika Isaac Devine
South Carolina Senator, District 19

I Took My Seat Because…

  • Portrait of a Black woman with styled dreadlocks in an updo, wearing a dark satin blouse with a bow at the collar, smiling against a dark background.

...representation isn't enough. We have to govern.

Tyra K. Little, Richland County Council, District 3

  • Close-up of a smiling Black woman with short, curly hair with gray streaks, wearing earrings and a black blazer with white piping, against a black background.

...our youth need solid, empathic leadership.

Angela Clyburn, Richland One School Board Commissioner, At- Large

  • A smiling woman with glasses and long black hair, wearing a red top and a black blazer, standing outdoors with greenery in the background.

...my community deserves to be heard.

Jesica Mackey, Chair, Richland County Council, District 9

  • A woman standing outdoors with a brick wall and greenery in the background. She is smiling and wearing a pink patterned blazer, an orange top, and a pearl necklace.

...I got tired of asking other people to fix it.
